ACED WELCOMES NEW FACULTY: MRS. KAREN PICKLES

 

MRS. PICKLES JOINS THE ACED FACULTY AS AN INSTRUCTOR IN THE NEW O.A.T. ONLINE BACHELOR COMPLETION PROGRAM. we are fortunate to have this talented addition to our faculty!

 

Karen Pickles

Background and Personal Interests

Mrs. Pickles was born in Bradenton, Florida, and has lived in several different Florida cities, including Sarasota and Miami. Since 1982, Mrs. Pickles has resided in Madison, Florida, not too far from Valdosta. She has been married to her husband, Troy, for 22 years, and they have two children, ages 18 and 20. Mrs. Pickles loves to read, and also enjoys hunting and fishing, usually with her father.

Educational Background

Mrs. Pickles earned her Bachelor's degree in Information Studies, as well as her Master's degree in Instructional Systems, with a focus in Open and Distance Learning, from Florida State University. She is currently working on her Ph.D. through Capella University.

Teaching History

Mrs. Pickles became an instructor at North Florida Community College after serving there in clerical positions for eight years. She taught in the Administrative Assistant program for five years, and the Computer Systems program for three years.

Professional Interests

Mrs. Pickles' dissertation focuses on Instructional Design for Online Learning. Her primary research interests include designing online courses in ways that prevent and deter cheating.
