I’d like to share some very exciting information about our Masters and Doctoral program in Adult and Career Education. We have recently gained approvals for changes to both degree programs that we hope will be beneficial to you and our profession.
We have reframed our Masters degree to include a strong degree core of classes and three distinct areas of concentration: Business Education and Information Technology, Workforce Education, and Career and Technical Education (see attached). We have created some new courses and modified existing courses. We will be offering courses in different south and central Georgia locations via a variety of delivery formats. We will teach courses either on a weekend Friday-Saturday format, an Internet delivery format, or a teleconference evening format. In particular we have gained approval to offer the “Business Education and Information Technology” concentration 100% on-line. We are accepting students into our ACED Masters program each semester. Each area of emphasis also has its unique "capstone experience" to complete the program.
In the past, the Doctoral Program was operated as a cohort model. Last year we gained approval to change the format and program of study of the ACED Doctorate of Education Degree at Valdosta State University. Students are now admitted into the program in any fall semester. The students are not locked into a set course schedule and have the opportunity to enroll in classes that are offered on a basis that are agreeable to their schedules. Applications are accepted through the VSU Gradute School with the deadling for Fall being June 1st of each year. Interested individuals should contact Dr. Yahya Mat Som at (229)333-5618 or ymatsom@valdosta.edu for information on the doctoral program.
We are offering classes in a variety of formats including the weekend Friday-Saturday classes, on-line courses, weeknight on-campus, and teleconferenced evening classes. We have also made some content changes to our Doctoral Program to increase the flexibility of course selection by students to meet the specific needs of the candidates according to their particular area of study.
Thank you for your interest in our graduate programs!
