faculty focus: dr. David Seiler

 

Dr. Seiler joined the faculty in THE fall of 2008 and is a Great addition to the ACED program and VSU community!

Background and Personal Interests
Dr. Seiler was born and raised in Enfield, New Hampshire. He enjoys running, and has even participated in the Boston Marathon! He is a big sports fan and loves the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Celtics. He also loves music, and can't go anywhere without his iPod! His favorite bands include Pearl Jam, The Eagles, and other classic rock music. He has been married for three years. He has three cats and one dog, and loves animals.

Educational Background

Dr. Seiler earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Studies with a concentration in Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University. He also received his Master's degree in Business Education with a Certificate in Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University. He then relocated to attend the University of Missouri's PAVTE (Practical Arts Vocational and Technical Education) program, where he received an Education Specialist degree. Dr. Seiler then attended Mississippi State University, where he received a Ph.D. in Education and Technology.

Teaching History

Dr. Seiler began teaching in 1998 as an adjunct professor at Hesser College in New Hampshire, while working on his Master's program. He also worked as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Missouri and Mississippi State University while working on his degrees there. In the fall of 2003, Dr. Seiler landed his first full-time teaching position at Mississippi State University. He also held positions as Assistant Professor and Office Administration at the University of Southern Mississippi from 2007-2008. Dr. Seiler then joined us here at VSU in the fall of 2008 as an Assistant Professor in the ACED department.

Professional Interests

Dr. Seiler's dissertation was on Online Learning and Learning Styles. His current research focus is in the area of online learning, and he is looking forward to utilizing his research results to benefit VSU programs.
