"WE're talking education"

This August, Dr. Clemente Hudson will be celebrating one year of hosting his radio show, “We’re Talking Education.” The show began on August 24, 2008 and airs on 92.1 FM Sundays from 12-2 p.m. The main objective of the show, Dr. Hudson states, is to “give an opportunity to the education community to promote what they are doing in a positive means.” The show is an informative education talk radio show that provides current information on issues and trends in education.
Each Sunday, Dr. Hudson hosts a guest on the show to talk about a specific educational topic. Over the past year, the show has had over fifty guests from differing aspects of education. Dr. Patrick Schloss, President of VSU; Dr. Brian Gerber, Director of Curriculum & Instructional Outreach at VSU; and Ms. Ingrid Hall, Principal of Valdosta Early College Academy have all appeared on the show. In addition, Dr. Hudson has invited numerous other faculty members from Valdosta State including, Dr. Ellise Martin, Dr. William Huitt, and Dean John Gaston. Some of ACED’s faculty have also taken part, including Dr. Martinez and Dr. Mat Som. Tim Carroll, councilman for the City of Valdosta; Sam Allen, former superintendent of Valdosta City Schools; and Matthew Gambill, Lobbyist for Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education in Washington, D.C. have also appeared on the show to discuss educational topics.
Some topics of the more popular topics that have been discussed during the show are home schooling, diversity in education, and information on programs at Valdosta State. Once a month, Dr. Hudson hosts an open mic session where he introduces a topic for discussion and takes calls from interested listeners.
While Dr. Hudson is constantly planning the guests and topics for upcoming shows, his other future plans are to recruit sponsors to take ownership in his show to support education. As the show nears its one year anniversary, Dr. Hudson is proud of the success of the show and plans to see further growth in his listening population.
