CONGRATULATIONS! ... Dr. Carolyn Cox retireS
Dr. Carolyn Cox, long time ACED faculty member in the Business Education and Office Administration & Technology degree programs, retired in May of 2009 after working at Valdosta State University for 27 years. She gave an extensive amount of service to her students, performed at an excellent level in the classroom, and contributed tirelessly to many professional activities around the college and university. The summary below outlines just some of the many activities and organizations with which Dr. Cox was a part:
Time at VSU
Dr. Cox has been teaching at VSU since 1982. She has taught many courses over her years of dedication to the ACED program, including Computer Technology in the Workplace, Computer Systems, Web Design and Multimedia, Integrating Technology in Middle Grades Education to name a few courses. She advised hundreds of undergraduate Business Education and Office Administration majors over the years. She also had commitments throughout the university, and served on department, college, and university committees, including the Personnel Committee, Technology and Facilities Committee, Program Planning Committee, COE Technology Committee, and University Athletics Committee. She worked to improve methods and standards at VSU, including revising the advising database, serving as webmaster for the College of Education students' web server, and held numerous workshops for students and faculty regarding better use of Live Text. Dr. Cox set up LiveText for accreditation purposes for the Dewar College of Education alongside the College of Education's Assessment Center. She also served on the Lowndes County High School Diversified Cooperative Training (DCT) Advisory Board.
Accomplishments & Professional Memberships
During Dr. Cox's time as a professor, researcher, and life-long learner, she had over 40 professional presentations, conducted over 20 workshops, was awarded many grants, and had 25 professional publications. She also had over 30 Technology, Diversity, and Miscellanous professional development activities. She held professional memberships in: Delta Pi Epsilon, the National Business Education Association, the Georgia Council of Business Teacher Educators,the Southern Business Education Association, and the Georgia Business Education Association.

Dr. Cox will be dearly missed by all in the Department of Adult and Career Education. We wish to recognize her vast accomplishments and contributions to Valdosta State University and the ACED program. There is no doubt that she will be missed by her fellow professors, staff, and the many students she impacted over the 27 years she taught at VSU. Best Wishes Dr. Cox !!!!
