The Mission of the Department of Adult & Career Education is to facilitate high quality learning and professional development.


The Department of Adult and Career Education offers undergraduate and graduate programs of study ranging from the associate's and bachelor's degree to the master's, and doctorate in education degree. Departmental faculty are highly qualified in their respective fields and possess both academic and real world experiences.

The undergraduate programs in the department are designed to give program completer's the professional knowledge, skills, and values to prepare them for success as certified career technical educators or as industry practitioners in their professional fields. The department's graduate programs build upon these dispositions and are designed to further enhance the program completer's success as a leader in the educational or private sector. A primary focus of all programs is to provide program completer's with relevant, practical coursework that encourages life-long learning and the utilization of technology. As a leader in both traditional and non-traditional instruction, the Department of Adult and Career Education offers its degree programs in a variety of formats at various locations, including the main campus in Valdosta and at Kings Bay Nuclear Submarine Base, Moody Air Force Base, and in Albany. The department of Adult and Career Education at Valdosta State University is truly, "Positively Impacting Learning Through Evidence-Based Practices".
