Biology is the study of life and represents one of the most dynamic disciplines in science. The courses offered in the VSU Biology Department encompass a wide range of subjects from molecular to organismal studies in laboratory and field settings.  The structuring of core and elective courses in the biology program is designed to prepare students for careers in biology.  Many graduates continue their education in graduate and professional schools. The major in Biology leads to the Bachelor of Science degree.

B.S. DEGREE IN BIOLOGY (2009-2010 catalog)

The University System of Georgia requires all students in undergraduate programs to complete a "core curriculum" comprising the first two years of study.  This core covers broad academic training in Essential Skills, Perspectives, Humanities and Fine Arts, Science, Mathematics and Technology, and Social Sciences.  The "senior curriculum" is generally rich in upper division courses in the major and associated science classes.  Further information may be found by following the links below.
