The Valdosta State University Annual Fund

Building for the Future

As an institution of higher learning serving South Georgia for many years, VSU has experienced many changes, always holding true to its tradition of quality teaching, applied research, and public service. And now as a regional university, the vision has expanded to include 41 counties of South Georgia. Your contribution to the VSU Annual Fund will ensure that we continue to provide the best possible education as we face the future and grow toward our vision. Our goal for the VSU Annual Fund is to exceed $500,000. Please take a moment to review the information that follows and consider becoming a partner in Valdosta State's exciting future.

How will my contribution be used?

Contributions to the VSU Annual Fund support Academics, Arts, and Athletics

Academics

Learning is not attained by chance. It is a combination of quality teaching and research, young scholars, and state-of-the-art facilities. Your support of the Annual Fund makes all three possible. Excellence in teaching has long been a priority at VSU. The Annual Fund contributes to the success of our faculty by offering opportunities for professional development and research. Scholarship support allows the University to attract and enroll a diverse and dynamic student body. Gifts in support of the University's schools and departments enable them to purchase the most up-to-date equipment and support student academic experiences.

ArtSouth

The College of the Arts at VSU offers a myriad of cultural programs. Reaching far beyond the campus borders, ArtSouth enriches the cultural life of the region through its extensive outreach activities. The Valdosta Symphony Orchestra, the Jekyll Island Musical Theatre, the VSU Theatre, the Music Society, and the Art Associates all contribute in important ways to what makes South Georgia a great place to live and work. These activities are made possible by gifts and ticket patronage of alumni, friends, and corporations. As a result, ArtSouth is able to fulfill its mission of providing scholarship awards to many deserving students.

Athletics

VSU's athletic program is quickly becoming one of the top programs in Division II and members of the Blazer Athletic Boosters are directly responsible for this accomplishment. Since the University System of Georgia Board of Regents requires athletic programs to be self-sufficient, the Blazer Athletic Boosters were formed to address the critical need for athletic scholarships. Through the VSU Foundation, the Blazer Athletic Boosters rely on alumni and friends for private gifts to provide athletic scholarships. Your support can continue the successful program of athletics at Valdosta State University.

Why should I give to the VSU Annual Fund?

Because...

...we need you

For almost 90 years Valdosta State has been evolving from a normal school for young ladies to a quality regional university. Generations of students have experienced a first-rate educational experience. To ensure that future generations leave the university stronger and better able to meet the challenges of the time, we depend on your annual support.

...VSU's academic reputation reflects you

As the reputation of VSU is enhanced, the value of a VSU degree escalates. If you give to VSU, you enjoy the benefit of influencing its success, and being affiliated with a quality regional university.

...people at VSU make a difference

As VSU continues to pursue its mission of quality teaching, applied research, and public service, it is important to remember it is the people here that make a difference. Whether a professor, a student, alumnus, or friend, members of the VSU community make a positive impact.

...you can make a difference

As a state-assisted university, VSU's facility needs are met. Your gift supports scholarships, faculty recruitment and research, and library acquisition just to name a few. In essence, you impact the most important purpose of the University, the education of our students.
