Hey guys!  Move-in day and the first day of classes has already passed and it’s almost the third week of school!!  It’s flying by and I’m finally starting to adjust to the college life.  I was really home-sick at first, but now I am feeling a lot better about things.

On move-in day, which was August 6th for me, my family and I got to VSU at about five, which is when we were allowed to start moving in.  When we finally got all of my stuff moved into my room, I met my roommate for the first time!  She is awesome.  We get along so well!  After that, my parents helped me make up my bed and get organized.  We went out to dinner and said our goodbyes and then they left.

The next morning, we woke up early and we went on our Emerging Leader retreat to Saint Simons Island.  We played outdoor games and did ropes courses for the first day and did more challenging obstacles on the second day.  I got to know so many new people and also some of the staff that works here at VSU!  I had a blast!

One week after move-in day, we had our first class!  I really lucked out on my schedule this semester because I have no class on Fridays and only one class on Mondays and Wednesdays!  I am taking English 1101, Spanish 1002, College Algebra 1111, VSU 1102, and History 2111.  So on Monday, I had my first class which is history.  It was almost just like a high school class.  They give you the syllabus and you start working a little bit on the first day and then you leave, but there are no bells and sometimes they let you out early!

So Monday went really smooth and I was excited about Tuesday because I had the rest of my classes…but Tuesday didn’t go over so well.  I looked for my math class and I finally found it.  I was about 15 minutes early so I just sat in there and waited.  Finally it was time for class to start and the teacher came in, but it was a man and on my schedule it clearly said a woman’s name.  The man introduced himself and held up a Statistics book and said, “I hope you all have gotten this book so that we can start right away”.  At that point I knew I was in the wrong class.  I was so embarrassed that I didn’t even say anything; I just got up and left, as everyone looked at me.  I realized that I went to room 2042 instead of 2142, so needless to say, I was late on my first day of math class.

Overall, things have gone really well these first two weeks.  The dining hall, the parking, and the dorms have worked out great and I am really starting to love it here.  The campus is beautiful, everyone is so helpful and nice, and there are so many great people and opportunities around here!
