September 13, 2008Wow, I have no idea where to even begin! So far, this semester has been both extremely busy and insanely fun! Since I’m a Political Science major, I was really interested in becoming a Student Government Senator at VSU. I campaigned for votes by creating a Facebook group that let all of my Valdosta State friends know how honored I would be if they elected me. Last Monday and Tuesday were the days that the “polls” were open, and on Wednesday I, along with 9 other freshmen, received the position! I’m so excited to learn of my new responsibilities and all the ways I can represent my fellow students.
Along with all of that, we’ve recently begun holding our Pledge socials in Chi Omega. These socials give the new sorority girls (“pledges”) the chance to hang out, meet, and become friends with the new fraternity guys; each sorority has a separate social with each fraternity. This is the foundation for our strong bonds in Greek friendship! As far as my academic life is going, I have had to become more creative in finding time to study. Time management is essential for a healthy college career (I don’t know what I’d do without my daily planner!). I also believe that exercise plays a huge factor in the welfare of all college students! A typical day for me begins at 7 o’clock when I get up to go to the gym. After working out for an hour or so, I go back to my room where I shower and then study until my first class starts at 11. My classes end at 3, in which case I’ll either have an SGA (Student Government Association) meeting, a Pledge social, or work. And this weekend the Blazers have a home game (finally!) and I definitely won’t miss that! College life is busier than I could have imagined, but I wouldn’t want it any other way!
