November 28, 2007Hello again devoted readers! I hope you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving break!!! I’m glad you are still tuning in and even more happy about the amount of people that showed up for Visitation Day ….GOOD JOB!!!! I hope you all had as much of an experience that I did when I first visited the campus, I was indeed enlightened! Something I wanted to talk about this time around is one of my other goals over the course of the year. That goal was to meet new people; pretty much just networking. What I got instead was a very diverse collection of friends!! I learned all kinds of new things, I understand other things a little bit more, and I have peer support for things that I do not know. This entire semester I’ve ran through people of all kinds of religions, ethnics, beliefs, origins, and values. The list is just unbelievable! By me interacting with different kinds of people I gain great communication skills, interpersonal skills, different hobbies, and different likes. Views on certain things have been indeed altered but simply because I’ve had another person explain it to me from his or her perspective. Another thing that I discovered myself was “my” study method. Yes it is true “college is NOT like high school”. Where your teachers lack in teaching you how to study, you may want to take a few learning style assessments online to see the best way for you to study with good results (believe me it helped). The worst thing I can think of doing while I’m in school is telling my parents I have a bad grade (fortunately I don’t have to do that!). The consequence of not doing so may result in them finding out anyway. Don’t risk it, because once they feel as though you can hold something just as small as a grade from them, that sense of trust that you had well established before you left, starts to diminish. So to avoid that entire situation, take the best measures possible to ensure your grades are good and stay that way. Try a different studying method, establish a study group, or get a tutor. If all fails just withdraw before midterms (this is for those who don’t like a challenge). One thing I sure am glad of is that you guys are actually taking the time out to read these little tidbits that I have gone through with you this semester so that you can have some knowledge about what’s really going on here! Good for you!!! Unfortunately now I have to leave you once more , but that’s okay because I will be back and I know you’ll be here to meet me…UNTIL NEXT TIME!! |
