Hello Everybody!! I know I know I know! I’m so sorry for having you wait so long for this. First off I want to thank all of the prospective students and parents for coming out for Visitation. We here at Valdosta State are more than happy to be able to give you the chance of considering our school. Hopefully, in fall 2008, I can see some of those warm faces that I have guided for the year on our campus. You know that you have my full and undivided support if you need any information about our school, just ask! That’s what I’m here for!

For most of you considering our school I would like to hope that you are all on the right track as far as applying. Keep those grades high and make sure that you send in paperwork BEFORE the deadline…that’s something my English 1101 teacher tells us EVERY WEEK…“Remember DUE BY not DUE ON”. Just to help you here’s a brief to do list my sister established for me before I went off to school.

TO DO:

  • Finalize your colleges of choice
    • Make note of application components
    • Write down important deadlines
    • Get all necessary paperwork
  • Testing
    • Make sure that you have taken either the SAT or ACT (or both)
    • If you haven’t TODAY is the day you should register to take the exam
    • If you are dissatisfied with your score and think you can do better, try again.
  • Paper Work
    • I know you will be swamped with this so try your best to keep it neat, clean and organized
    • Make sure you have all application components ready to submit
    • Some of you may need recommendations, remember that one teacher who commented on your enjoyment for participation in class discussions? IT’S A WIN WIN!!
    • If you need paperwork sent from your school, do not wait till the last minute to request for them to send it
  • Funds
    • If you’ve been working, hopefully you haven’t been spending those funds that were intended to help you…
    • Make sure all your information is correct and submitted on your FAFSA, this is the MAIN piece of your application
    • Make sure all other application components are ready to submit
    • Once receiving your financial aid letter, begin deciding on what it is that you are going to use or not use.
    • Be Careful With Loans
    • Scholarships = Free Money, GO APPLY FOR THEM!
  • Housing
    • If on campus, make sure deposits and paper work are submitted on time.
    • If you know your roommate, make plans as far as bringing things, if you’re like me and my roommate, we share a lot and there’s no hard feelings but some things we just rather prefer our own …just the other day she asked me to use some hand soap, I could of thrown a sock at her…

If you just watch this list and make sure things are done, no problems should come your way, look at me I turned out just fine and I thank my sister for looking out for me :D

Until next time readers!
