Final EntryMy freshman year of college, I would have never expected to get here so quickly and pass by even faster. The last month of high school it was all I could think about and throughout the summer I constantly wanted to go shopping to buy things for my dorm. I was so ready to move out, get the freedom I had always wanted, and finally take classes with new people, in a new place, and on my own time. When I first moved to Valdosta last August, I was thrilled! I had a few friends from high school who were going to be there, but after classes started we all began to go our separate ways and make new groups of friends. For the first two months I was still getting used to the fact that I was away from home, but never really had the feeling of being homesick. However, by the time I was finally adjusted to being away from home an unfortunate series of events landed me just there. I never expected to break my leg my freshman year of college, but I would not be the same had it not happened. I believe that all things happen for a reason and although I am not sure why I was selected out of all Valdosta’s freshman to break their leg, I have certainly learned a lot from the experience. I have learned not to take anything for granted and that by working hard you can achieve anything you put your mind to. I am so appreciative for everyone who was there to help me throughout my recovery and am forever grateful. This summer is going to be a busy one much like the past six months. I have decided to take summer courses and Kennesaw State so that I can get ahead on my courses before the fall. I am also working part time for an accounting firm twenty hours a week. This is certainly not my thing, but hey, it is a job. I hope that at the end of the summer I will be going to Hilton Head with my family to have a much needed beach vacation. In the fall I am planning on another full load of courses and to continue working part time for the attorney’s office. I am really excited for the next set of freshman to come onto VSU’s campus and can’t wait to meet another new group of people and have another great year in Valdosta. New students enjoy your new parking deck! You have no idea how much we suffered while it was being built! Kevin |
