Keri

Hey guys! My name is Keri. I’ve lived in Valdosta my whole life and am super stoked about staying here for college! Of the extracurricular activities that I participated in during high school, the one I spent most all of my time on was band; I was also on the dance team for three years. Also, in high school, I participated in the “joint-enrollment” program my junior and senior years. Joint-enrollment is where high school students attend college classes that applies towards high school and college credit.

After attending Valdosta State for the past two years through joint-enrollment, I know that there is no university I’d rather attend. I didn’t even apply to any other schools! After my first semester, I was sold. There are several reasons why Valdosta State was my number one (and only!) choice, but mostly it’s because size matters. Firstly, the class sizes are perfect. It’s important for me to be able to ask my professor questions and get help when I need it. Secondly, I feel that the size of Valdosta State positively affects the social climate. I didn’t want to go to a college that was so small that it was high school all over again, but I also didn’t want to go to a college that was so big that I would feel lost. The amount of students at Valdosta State is perfect; big enough to where you see plenty of new faces in every class, but small enough that you can always find a familiar face. Although I’m from Valdosta, I plan to live on campus in order to completely experience college life. I will be living in a two-person suite in Hopper Hall, going through Greek recruitment, and participating in student government. I hope to meet many new people and make tons of friends along the way!

I’ll be sharing my experiences with you throughout the year, beginning with move-in day and recruitment in August all the way through Spring semester. So check back frequently!
