Feliz Navidad & Feliz Ano Nueva to my fellow Blazers! It feels like I’ve been gone for so long! First Semester was such a crazy yet fun experience, but I’m glad I got the chance to break away for a while and come back home. Everyone says there’s no place like it, and they’re right! Over the break, I not only got the chance to hang with my mother and my best friends Cayla, Yanzit, Jessica, and Andre. I also was able to fly to Gary, Indiana, my hometown, and hang with my entire extended family! And that is about 100+ relatives…..no lie! It was so fun being able to hang with all my crazy cousins; cool and hilarious aunts and uncles and the rest of the fam! It was also pretty interesting to be back in negative degree weather. I have to say, after being in Georgia so long, was pretty tough getting used to again. Overall, I had a great time filled with food, fun, and lots of laughter.

Once I got back home, I received some great gifts including DVD Box sets of my favorite shows, noise-canceling headphones, giftcards, more movies, books, and even……dare I say it? A credit card! Needless to say, that was one of the most surprising gifts that I received. Anyways, once I checked my grades, I was slightly disappointed because I wanted more A’s than B’s. However, when I thought back to how I almost let everything spin out of control and managed to get it back on track, I felt much better and it made me that much more determined to do a outstanding job this semester. I’m very glad to be back at VSU, surrounded by all my silly and great friends, including my goofy and fun brother Darius. My loyal friends, Keish, Sakeena, Michael, Tolba, James, Olivia, Symone, Genesis, and Jessica D. More than that, I’m just ready for a whole new semester filled with new experiences, new people, and new chapters of love and happiness for a young man everyone simply knows as “Darrell.”
