February 14, 2009Wazzup, my fellow Blazers? Another month into the new semester and things are going pretty well for me! I like my new classes, and my grades are pretty great for now. Just have to keep up that studying, and everything will be great. I’ve also made some new changes this semester myself! I’ve recently joined Valdosta University’s Mass Choir as a tenor. I had always planned on joining, but there were a lot of new experiences I had to handle as an upcoming freshman first! Also, as everyone might remember, I’m an Emerging Leader. In this program, it was mandatory for everyone to attend Valdosta’s Annual Blazer Leadership Conference, which one of the previous bloggers, Sharnae, wrote about as well. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I had never been to one before. Regardless, I made sure I looked very professional for the occasion, and made sure I woke up around 9:00, so I could be ready to walk over to the University Center around 9:45. I was thinking it might be some boring, drawn out conference about leadership and changes, and that I would mostly be trying to keep from falling asleep the entire time. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be a interactive, exciting, and entertaining event! We were divided into different groups by genre of music, and we received “TV Shows.” We then had to come up with a song about leadership based on…..what else? Mighty Morphin Power Rangers! Once we figured out a great way to match our words with the song, we took our turn with a remixed version of the Power Rangers beat, and came in second place! But that was only the beginning. There were a lots of great, interactive activities, seminars, and most importantly, great FOOD that followed! Overall, the experience was pretty awesome, and I was very glad to have experienced it. Great things are coming my way! I can feel it! I’ll be writing back soon! |
