February 29 , 2008Hello again readers!! I know it’s been a while and you have been waiting on a few more details about my life here at VSU for the past few weeks well lets get started! The day after my previous blog I went to the Blazer Leadership 101 Conference that VSU has annually. It included guest speakers from our school that gave us pointers on skills that leaders have. We played games and learned about valuable aspects of leadership while putting these skills into play all at the same time. The program and participating crowd turn out was great! Not only did we learn things, but we left with a renewal of self confidence that determined what kind of leader we would name ourselves from that day on. I must say, if there ever is an opportunity for you to make it to next year’s conference, don’t miss out on that great opportunity VSU’s paintball club held a fundraiser to get supplies for the club and tried to make it a moment in VSU History, VSU’s first ever Pillow Palooza!!! On the BEAUTIFUL front lawn other Blazer’s and I had a major all out pillow fight just for the fun and the cause. It was quite the workout and Indeed fun, and I wouldn’t dare pass it up if it came around again. Not only did I meet new faces, but I also had the opportunity to playfully hit those that I knew…with teamwork and different strategies we all aimed to enjoy this creative idea of fun. To top it off we all had memorable pillows to do with what we like! Here on campus we have a Campus Activities Board that sets up different event for us through out the semester (somewhat like the build-a-bear workshop…if u missed it see my previous blog), this time we had a Sock Hop for the people who stay up late and have nothing to do! We danced, played games, enjoyed music, hung out and had contest in our pajamas!!! It was fun, and I am glad to say that was indeed a contestant in the best socks contest! Yes it is indeed that time again: midterms… the long hours of studying some subject you don’t like and learning about something your pretty sure you will not use in the upcoming years…well if you look at it that way look at it from my point of view for a moment: School is like job. You have to be on time, you have to keep things organized, and you need to work hard AND enjoy doing it. Grades are your pay. They are your rewards for a job well done. If you keep it up you get promotions, and before you know it you will have a career. So midterms, unlike homework but just as important, are basically a benchmark as to what it is you are doing and what you need to change. Its as good as a syllabus…so get your studying skills to level excel, because we want you to go to any college that you attend whether it is VSU or not and be able to do great. So readers, hope you enjoyed this piece I have given you… until next time! Sharnae |
