February 15, 2008Hello again readers!!! Hope you had a happy Valentine’s Day! I’m glad you can tune back into my blogs and I hope you liked the pictures that I include with them. I’m just going to go over a quick review of Saturday, February 2nd 2008, which was Visitation Day!!! I’m so happy about the remarks and things that I heard about our school! I love doing visitation because not only is it a chance for me to share my school with you but to be reminded of all the wonderful things that brought me here ...the surroundings, the climate, its reminds me of the sunny days in West Palm Beach. A father of one of our tourist mentioned every aspect that made me feel at home...”its so calm and relaxing, refreshing and cherishing at the same moment”...and every single time I hear a parent say something so nice, I am very thankful for the fact that I chose VSU...not only that I’m involved in a lot of things that bring this school together and makes it fun, but because I am apart of a school that means a lot to me. This time I’m going to engage in the topic of activities with you! Here at VSU we participate in tons of things such as bake sales, plays, and even happenings on palms quad. A few activities I have participated in since I’ve been here was the Reslife Bucks Programs. For those of you who may not know, in these programs you do activities, personal enrichments, and community service and get ‘bucks’ that you use at the end of the semester to purchase things our bid on a auction item. The activity that I participated in was creating valentine day cards for the members of a local nursing home. We used arts and craft like sticky letters, which are neat if you like designing things, they’re really cute J. Something else that was quite interesting…Wednesday was free Pancake Day at IHOP!!!! Yes I know me and two other friends went it was quite delicious…I didn’t know they had something like that till I saw it advertised on FaceBook…so look out if you have a account on there, your friends may go to events and not remember to tell you! We ate and made a generous donation which is the purpose of the free day, so we had to make sure that we were apart of the cause. We also had Mardi Gras day in our dining area and it was delicious! Crawfish, potatoes, and jambalaya!! Whoa did I eat! I also got a few beads and a mask as well from the dining experience just as if we were in New Orleans. Something else that occurred that makes me very proud of myself was the fact that I got a chance to write in the Spectator, our school’s newspaper! My first article as a staff writer was about the youth vote in America, I got it published yesterday actually! Our school also held a Build-A-Bear Workshop in our old gym for free! Yes free! (It was another posted FaceBook event)I have a picture to detail that too! I also went to our schools game vs. West GA were we were doing so good till the end, they scored by one point but that’s cool, we’ll be back! Lol…Until next time readers!!! |
