Final EntryHey, my VSU peeps! Can you believe it? As it turns out, this will be my final entry of the school year. It went by faster than I would have ever expected, especially 2nd semester! There’s so many experience I had this year, some more exciting that others. Some were sad and some were inspiring. But they were always learning experiences nonetheless. It looks like it’s time to pass the torch to the new freshman class. For starters, on Move In Day, try getting to know your neighbors as they’re moving in with you. I met one of my good friends Kenan while moving into my room, and we’ve had a pretty great friendship since then. When it comes to studying and schoolwork, the obvious statement would be, “Study and do your work, because if you don’t, you’ll fail!” While that’s true to an extent, my biggest problem when I started classes was not having enough organization. If you have a schedule, it helps you list your assignments and test dates in order for you to plan and prepare for them in advance. If you’re fortunate enough to not have Friday classes or a schedule that gives you lots of time between classes, then use that time wisely to study and get some assignments out of the way! As for the social scene, be careful. College is a place where you’ll meet hundreds of people and have many new experiences, but if you don't balance, they can quickly become the forefront of your college life (ahead of your studies). If a class gets too hard or difficult, I have three words for you: STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER. Believe me, it’s just like it sounds; a center dedicated to the success of students. They’re available all the time. All you need to do is call or walk over to Langdale to schedule an appointment and a tutor will be there to help you with any and every subject you can think of. If possible, try to have some extra groceries in your room just in case you don’t feel like going to eat around campus, mainly Palms or Hopper Dining. I’ll be honest, it happens from time to time after you’ve been eating there for a while. But they’re both still pretty great dining facilities, so don’t shy away from them! And as for me, this summer I’ll be Studying Abroad in Japan!!! I’ll be learning about the culture, religion, and will be doing a whole LOT of sight-seeing!!! Well, it was really fun being able to blog for all current and prospective students at VSU! And if you ever see me on campus, don’t be a stranger! Thanks for reading, thanks to Ryan Hogan for choosing me and giving me this great opportunity, and now I’m OUTTA HERE!!!! |
