Graduate Residence Hall Director

The Graduate Residence Hall Director (RHD) is a Graduate Assistantship where Professionals in pursuit of a Master’s degree in Higher Education Leadership, Marriage Family Therapy, Social Work, or Psychology and Counseling or related degree programs live-in our Residence Hall. These live in professionals supervise student staff (4-15 RAs, 10 Front Desk Workers, Office Manager, etc.), oversee hall community of 200+ residents, serve on departmental committees, and facilitate community building across their residential Community.

Summer Housing Assistant 

The Summer Housing Assistant is a 13 week student staff position over the summer session. Summer Housing Assistants will build community and ensure the safety of all Summer Residents in our 12 month buildings (Centennial and Converse Hall) as well as our seasonal summer students. Summer Housing Assistants will also work Office Hours with our Summer Camps and Conferences Manager and Intern to assist in the success of that program. All Summer Housing Assistants live on campus in a designated location throughout the summer at no cost.

Resource Room Assistant

The Resource Room is a creative space where all Housing Events, Door decorations, bulletin boards, and general craft needs are met. Our Resource Room Assistants student staff who are creative, innovative, and (of course) resourceful. It is supervised by two (2) Managers who provide direction and insight about the comings and goings of the space. The Resource Room is Open on in the Fall and Spring Semesters.

Housing Ambassador

The Department of Housing and Residence Life employs approximately 3 to 4 Housing Ambassadors who are responsible for tours of housing facilities, and special events for marketing on-campus housing. Candidates for the Matchmaker position should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge or willingness to learn about VSU and the Department of Housing and Residence Life, and are able to effectively and positively represent the on-campus living experience. Candidates who are currently living on-campus or who have lived on-campus are preferred. Typically, new Housing Ambassadors are hired each summer as needed.

Facilities Assistant

Housing Facilities Assistant works through the summer and into opening on preparing the Residence Halls after students vacate. Housing Facilities Assistants should be willing to lift and move furniture, assist with event set up and break down within the residence halls, clean, paint and repair rooms where necessary. All appointments will last through the summer and will be renewed for the fall based upon availability and budget.
