Campus Mailing Address
Valdosta State University has a campus wide mailing address for all incoming mail and packages. Please see the proper addresses below if you would like to send mail to a student living in university housing or a member of the faculty or staff. Students living on campus have an individual mailbox for all incoming mail- you can obtain the individual box number directly from each student. All mail being sent will be received by Campus Mail Service and then delivered to each student mailbox or department.

Departmental Mail Services
Campus Mail provides Valdosta State University ’s faculty and staff with postal services. We offer the convenience of daily departmental deliveries for every office.
Pick-up and Delivery
VSU departments are requested to have outgoing mail ready for pick-up (separated and bundled by mail to be metered and inner-campus mail correspondence) when the carrier provides mail delivery.
Scheduled times for daily pick-up and delivery are developed for each office. The schedule is revised as frequently as is necessary to ensure timely movement of mail. Mail which is not ready must be held for the next pick-up or delivered to Campus Mail. Any office having an extraordinary need should direct their request to email@example.com.
Campus Mail Service is equipped with postage metering machines and will affix postage to all Official University mail. Consult with Campus Mail Service staff for the best method of mailing or shipping any outgoing items. Campus Mail will not affix postage on any mail without a Valdosta State University return address and a plus four postal code from the sending department.
No cash sales are transacted with departments by the Mail Carriers. Monday – Thursday Campus Mail Service must have all 1st Class and Expedited outbound letters and packages in the office by 3:00 to fulfill same day processing. By 1:30 on Friday. Call if you are unable to meet these schedules to see if we can assist with your request.
Campus Mail advises all departments sending out “mass” mailings (non-profit, over 200 pieces and first class presort mailings over 500 pieces) to help determine lowest possible rates and timely schedules. We will coordinate the pick-up and delivery of mass mailings from the departments and offices to Campus Mail and to the U.S. Postal Service Bulk Mail Technician.
Due to Postal regulations, nonprofit mailings require additional processing, which require a three day turnaround for the processing of these, but will be processed sooner if possible. If the mailing requires tabbing and or addressing, this will require more time.
Campus Mail Service will assist and advise in the preparation of “mass” mailings and on such matters as lowest mail rates, mail schedules on campus and deliveries to and from the US Post Office in Valdosta. Where the urgency of the mailing requires special handling, Campus Mail Service will assist in every possible way in meeting the USPS regulations.
Addressing Services are available by Campus Mail Service. The only limitations might be appropriate scheduling and the design of the item to be mailed. Software used in addressing prepares the list to the best possible postage rates available. If the item to be addressed is machineable the address will include the USPS CASS approved barcode placing your mailing in the automation mailstream for the most efficient delivery possible.
USPS Regulation - Mailers who claim presorted (Campus Mail Service processes daily letter correspondence as 1st Class Presort to realize a discount of .026 each.) or automation rates for First-Class and Standard Mail (Non-Profit Mailings are included in Standard Mail). In other words if we are to realize any type of discount on mailings submitted to the Post Office - the addresses used in the mailings - newsletters, catalogs, notices of all types - must be checked against the National Change of Address System. Mail Design and Automation addressing save you in postage and ensure your mail will reach the recipient in a timely manner. Non-profit letters sent under the CASS approved process travel faster and with 1st class mail.

Campus Mail Procedure For Distribution of Information Items
Campus Mail Services will consider distribution of an item if one of two conditions is met:
1. The item has been sent through the U.S. Postal Service addressed to either the student box holder or to a department.
2. The sender is either a campus department or a student organization officially recognized by the Office of the Dean for Student Life and is sending the item to convey information about an authorized VSU event.
When an item is delivered by the U.S. Postal Service, meeting those guidelines for mail, and is correctly addressed for VSU needs then Campus Mail VSU will distribute to the addressee. When a department or recognized organization provides the item then the information on the item will determine if the item will be distributed. The information must convey details about a VSU event such as the location, time, purpose, activities, organization name, and contact.
When the event is either sponsored or hosted by a commercial company, other information about the company can not be included. This will avoid the effect of the item being an advertisement. Information not allowed about the sponsor or host includes: personal discounts for using the company outside the event, menus and services of the company, and activities available which are not related to the event.
A few examples:
- Athletics will have a luncheon booster meeting at Valdosta’s Favorite Restaurant. The notice can list that participants can order from the menus or list the prearranged meal to be provided, but not list the entire menu.
- Student Life will have a charity softball tournament sponsored by the South’s Favorite Beverage Company and participants will receive discount coupons for the sponsor’s product. The notice can state that the coupons are for participants. It cannot list all the products the company sells.
- A Greek Organization does a 24 hour bowling tournament, hosted by the local bowling alley, to raise funds for the VSU Foundation. The notice cannot say pool tables, beer, or video games are also available at the host site.
