Temporary Employees

Welcome to Valdosta State University! Temporary employees are valuable members of the Valdosta State University workforce and are eligible for many of the same benefits and discounts as staff employees.

Temporary employees are employed for a period not to exceed one calendar quarter. Temporary employees may have their employment extended upon recommendation by the unit supervisor and approval by Human Resources, for a period not to exceed twelve months. A thirty-day break in service during or subsequent to twelve months of employment is required of all temporary employees.

Temporary employees may be in a "lump sum" budget line or appear as a "line item" depending upon nature of appointment

(Note: Temporary staff hired through a temporary staffing agency are not VSU employees. For information regarding the process for hiring temporary staff through a temporary staffing agency, contact the Purchasing Office for assistance.)
