I Caught You Caring
About the Program
The “I Caught You Caring” program was developed in 2004 as part of the Partners for Campus Excellence initiative. The program was developed to acknowledge those individuals who provide exceptional service. As one member of the implementation committee states, the goal is “to encourage and reward employees who go out of their way to make that personal connection with the people they are here to help.”
Cards, which are located throughout campus, are used to denote the act and the employee being recognized. Anyone can complete a card and all university employees are eligible to receive recognition. Cards are sent through Campus Mail to Employee and Organizational Development where cards are processed and documented in a person's personnel file. Cards are then sent to the employees’ supervisor who presents the card in a meaningful manner to the employee. First time recipients receive a special lapel pin.
How it Works
Use the I Caught You Caring Program to reward service above and beyond the call of duty by any university employee, including staff, student workers and faculty. The completed card will be forwarded to the employee's supervisor, who will present the card to the person you wish to recognize for outstanding work. First time recipients receive a star shaped lapel pin. In addition, each instance of recognition is noted in the employee's personnel record.
Simply complete an I Caught you Caring Card located in departments around campus or complete a card online.
Drop the I Caught You Caring Card in campus mail. The Card will be forwarded to the Office of Employee and Organizational Development, which will facilitate the reward process. Visitors to campus should ask a Valdosta State University employee to mail the card for them.
