Statement of Ethics
Members of the VSUF board of trustees, by virtue of their responsibilities within the Foundation and the VSU community, represent the University to the larger society. They have, therefore, a special duty to exemplify the best qualities of the institution and to observe the highest standards of personal and professional conduct.
As well, members of the VSUF staff and University advancement professionals work on behalf of those served by the institution and represent the university to donors, volunteers, and the larger public. In doing so, they also represent the integrity of the institution and of the fundraising profession. These professionals must, in discharging responsibilities, observe and promote the highest standards of personal and professional conduct and continually strive to increase their knowledge of the profession.
To help maintain this high ethical standard, the Valdosta State University Division of University Advancement maintains membership in a number of professional organizations designed to promote success in these areas. Likewise, the Foundation has voted to adhere to the following standards of practice and codes of ethical standards endorsed by these organizations: A Donor’s Bill of Rights, Association of Fundraising Professional’s (AFP) Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice, and the National Committee on Planned Giving’s (NCPG) Model Standards of Practice for the Charitable Gift Planner.
