Welcome to Homecoming 2014 at Valdosta State University!

Homecoming 2014 Logo - Ignite!

From the President

Welcome to IGNITE, Valdosta State University’s Homecoming 2014The 2014-15 academic year is especially significant as we celebrate The Year of the Arts.  The arts provide a profoundly important means of human expression, and VSU serves as a regional center for the finest in music, dance, theatre, and visual art.  Throughout the academic year we will shine a spotlight on the faculty, staff, students, and visiting artists who make such a valuable contribution to our region’s cultural vitality.

To that end, Dacia and I hope that you will mark your calendars for the week of October 20th-25th and will celebrate with us VSU’s accomplishments and sense of pride.

Let’s Go Blazers!

President William J. McKinney, Ph.D.

Show your Spirit!

Throughout the week, we will be asking for submissions via social media - with the hashtag #VStateHC - of alumni, students, faculty & staff showing their Blazer Pride!

On Friday, with the help of the Alumni Chapter of Valdosta, SGA, and volunteers, we’d like to visit the community and catch others in the act of showing off their Blazer spirit. Blaze will be canvassing Valdosta (through the wonder of social media alerts) to find people donning their favorite VSU gear or decorating their businesses to showcase their best black and red. Those “caught” will be photographed and receive a prize for participating. We’d like to encourage schools, businesses, and others to promote staff participation and share a photo of their group wearing our colors. Bows will also be tied around light poles downtown and will be available for businesses requesting them throughout the community.
