Q: Does VSU have a program for Deaf & Hard of Hearing Students?
A. Yes. We provide classroom accommodations such as interpreting and notetaking services, C-print. Please click here for a more comprehensive list.
Q: How do I get into VSU?
A. All students must meet VSU's entrance requirements; however, students who are D/HoH may be eligible for a substitution for the Foreign Langauge component of their College Preparatory Curriculum requirements. Students transferring from another institution have slightly different entrance requirements.
Q: I've been accepted to VSU. Now what?
A. You should receive a Voluntary Disclosure of Disability Student Data Sheet when you are officially accepted to VSU. Complete this form, indicating that you are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, and return it to the Access Office for Students with Disabilities. It is helpful if you list the kinds of services you will be requesting (for example, interpreters or notetakers). Once this form has been received, the Coordinator for Deaf & Hard of Hearing services will then contact you to schedule an intake interview.
Q: What is "documentation" and why do I need it?
A. Students must "register" with the Access Office by submitting their documentation --letters from a doctor or audiologist that support the accommodations requested. Once your documentation has been received, the Coordinator will contact you to schedule an intake interview so that you can plan your accommodations.
Q: I'm a current student. How do I request accommodations for my classes?
