Career Opportunities Hosts Spring Career Expo March 23

VALDOSTA — The Office of Career Opportunities at Valdosta State University will host its 2017 Spring Career Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, in the University Center Magnolia Room and Cypress Room.
 
Current students and alumni planning to attend should dress professionally, arrive early, and bring several copies of their resume. Those who wish to receive advice and feedback from the Career Opportunities team before the event should attend the walk-in Resume Prep Day from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22.
 
“This event is extremely important for our graduating seniors and also beneficial to all students who are seeking a job, internship, cooperative education experience, or just additional experience in networking with employers,” said Tiffany Soma, career counselor.
 
More than 40 employers representing a wide variety of career fields are scheduled to attend the Spring Career Expo. They will be offering everything from full-time and part-time employment to internships, practicums, and cooperative education experiences to volunteer opportunities.
 
The Spring Career Expo lineup includes AFLAC, Azalea Health, BWay Corporation, Colonial Life, Convergys, Crown Equipment Corporation, Data Software Services, Georgia Department of Human Services and its Division of Child Support Services, First Communities, Flash Foods, Florida Auditor General, Florida Department of Corrections, Gainesville Police Department, GEICO, Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, Georgia Department of Corrections, Georgia Department of Public Safety-Georgia State Patrol, Gwinnett County Police Department, Horace Mann Insurance, In the Game Sports Network, Mars Chocolate North America LLC, Modern Woodmen of America, National Distributing Company, New Hire Solutions, New York Life Insurance, Oil Dri Corporation of America, Okefenokee Heritage Center, U.S. Peace Corps, Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes, Sherwin-Williams Paint Stores, Lowndes County Solicitor General’s Office-Victim Assistance, Target, The Travelers Companies Inc., Turner Furniture, United Forest Products Moultrie LLC, U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, VSU Police Department, Verizon Wireless, Waffle House Inc., Walmart Distribution Center, WALB, WGXA, Wild Adventures, and WTXL ABC 27.
 
Representatives from VSU’s Graduate School will also be on hand for those students and alumni who wish to learn more about furthering their education.

VSU’s Office of Career Opportunities strives to provide career development and awareness, experiential learning/cooperative education, and professional employment opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students and alumni. Its staff collaborates with the university’s employer and community partners to develop the employment potential of students and graduates and to utilize their innovative, intellectual talents.
