VALDOSTA — To allow Blazer Nation an opportunity to recover from the destructive weather that impacted the South Georgia and North Florida area today, Valdosta State University is canceling classes and ceasing normal business operations until 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23. All classes, activities, and events scheduled at 5 p.m. or later will maintain their normal schedules.

Residence halls will remain open and staffed. Palms Dining will be open normal business hours during the closure period for students who live on campus.

Supervisors will notify any essential personnel required to report to work during the closure period.

The severe weather that passed through VSU's service region resulted in multiple deaths, injuries, and significant property damage.

Students, faculty, staff, and parents with questions or concerns during this closure should call the VSU Police Department at (229) 333-7816.
