Tropical Storm Hermine Update - August 31, 2016

As the weather often does, we’ve had some significant changes in the forecasted arrival of Tropical Storm Hermine. As of yesterday, we anticipated the storm to arrive tonight and give us heavy rains on Thursday. However, during the overnight hours last night, the storm has slowed and now is not expected to arrive in the VSU area until the late hours of Thursday evening, with the majority of expected rains and wind occurring on Friday. Basically, this new information from the National Weather Service pushes the storm’s arrival back 24 hours from what was initially expected.

Please rest assured that the University Administration, as well as Public Safety, is monitoring the situation closely and will do everything necessary to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Please monitor campus emails, your registered alert system devices, and social/traditional media for any updates as they become available.

Respectfully,

C. Alan Rowe, M.S.
Interim Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety
