Nephina Performs in Concert at VSU Sept. 27

VALDOSTA — Nephina, featuring Nina Lutz on violin and Nephtali Santiago on guitar, will perform in concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, on the Valdosta State University Whitehead Auditorium stage. Admission is free of charge and open to the public.

Nephina’s program features Franz Schubert’s “great” Arpeggione Sonata and two “very passionate Spanish-style pieces,” Dimas Sedicias’s Requiem para un Novillero and Manuel de Falla’s Spanish Dance No. 1, said Santiago, celebrated guitarist and adjunct professor in VSU’s Department of Music. The duo will perform Irving Berlin’s “Reaching for the Moon” and “Always” with vocalist Cindy Quick, instructor in VSU’s English Language Institute and active singer and guitarist who performs regularly at area venues.

Lutz serves as chairwoman of the VSU Department of Music String Area and has been concertmaster of the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra and first violinist of the VSU Faculty String Quartet since 1992. She teaches courses in applied violin, music theory, and functional piano.

Whitehead Auditorium is located on the first floor of the VSU’s Fine Arts Building, at the intersection of Brookwood Drive and Oak Street.
