VSU Hosts Faculty and Staff Blood Drive June 24

VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University, in conjunction with American Red Cross, will hold a faculty and staff blood drive from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24 in the Student Union meeting rooms 1 A and B.

The blood drive is part of the American Red Cross 100 Days of Summer campaign, which provides 100 chances for those in the area to donate blood.

“Every two seconds someone needs blood,” said Claire Bowen, account manager with American Red Cross. “Each day the American Red Cross needs 15,000 blood donations to meet the needs of patients at approximately 2,700 hospitals and transfusion centers across the country. With schools out and families on vacation, it’s often difficult to collect enough blood to meet patient needs during the summer months. We depend on sponsors like Valdosta State University to ensure blood is available when it is needed.”

Donors who give blood at this drive will receive a free $5 gift card to Jimmy John’s. Appointments can be made by visiting www.redcrossblood.org and entering the keyword VSU. For more information, contact Bowen at Claire.bowen@redcross.org .
