VSU Featured in Campus Technology for Use of Data for Student Retention

VALDOSTA – Valdosta State University is featured in the March issue of Campus Technology magazine for its use of data to retain and engage students.

In the recent article, titled “Know – and Retain – Your Student”, Brian Haugabrook, interim chief information officer at VSU, and Andy Clark, interim vice president for enrollment management, marketing and communications, discussed the university’s use of tools such as Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise with Endeca to connect faculty with students and help them identify risk factors.

“On the first day when faculty members see their class, they can see a picture of the students in the class,” Clark stated in the article. “They can also see if they have any risk indicators, if it's a math or reading class."

Haugabrook added that information on students at risk of failing has allowed the university to “create a program that is tailored to help them succeed.”
