VSU Hosts 2014 Online Lifeline Conference Feb. 20-21

VALDOSTA - The 2014 Online Lifeline Conference, which focuses on classroom technology and online instruction for institutional educators and personnel, will be held Thursday, Feb. 20, and Friday, Feb. 21 in the Student Union.

“The Online Lifeline Conference is not limited to faculty teaching online,” said Rebecca Murphy, associate director of Human Resources for Employee Development at VSU. “The conference showcases all types of technology used to enhance teaching and learning.”

The regional conference is open to faculty and staff members from any institution. Conference fees are $49 per person until Friday, Feb. 7 and $69 after this date. The fee for presenters and co-presenters is $25. This fee includes all conference materials, the technology showcase and the conference social as well as continental breakfast and lunch on Friday.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know!” and includes a keynote address from Arthur R. Murphy, an interaction consultant with Aeolian Solutions, LLC, and a featured presentation by Dr. Myk Garn, assistant vice chancellor for the University System of Georgia’s New Learning Models.

“Over the past five years, this conference has grown from a one-day event to a two-day conference with multiple corporate sponsors,” said Murphy.

The conference features a minimum of four concurrent sections located in the Student Union and next door at the Odum Library labs. Many of the presenters are from other University System of Georgia institutions, the private sector and out of state.
