"Filled with Love" Project Benefits Community
VALDOSTA—Valdosta State University’s Sigma Iota chapter of Alpha Phi Omega dedicates the entire month of February to community service with their third annual project, “Filled With Love.”
From Feb. 1 until Feb. 28, APO will be accepting food and clothing donations at various booths on campus for Filled with Love. Booths will be set up throughout the month at the Pedestrian Mall, Palms Quad, Student Union and other similar locations.
APO is teaming up with the College Panhellenic Council (CPC) to promote more donations. T-Shirts for this event will be available for purchase for $15 and proceeds will go toward the cause. Food will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank and Hungry at Home, while clothing will be donated to the Salvation Army and local homeless shelters.
“The Sigma Iota chapter of Alpha Phi Omega (APO) knows that Hungry at Home and Second Harvest both feed a lot of mouths in the community, and we would love to be a part of that,” said Marcus Hill, chapter president.
On Feb. 28, APO will host a final event with the plan to spell out “LOVE” in giant letters made of donated goods across the front lawn.
“We throw this event to help make a difference in the Valdosta-Lowndes area,” Hill said. “We believe that with the help of CPC and the rest of the community, we can help those who are in need of food and clothing.”

Goal 1: Recruit, retain, and graduate a quality, diverse student population and prepare students for roles as leaders in a global society.
Goal 3: Promote student, employee, alumni, retiree, and community engagement in our mission.
