Third Annual Symphony 5K and Fun Run

VALDOSTA -- The third annual Valdosta Symphony 5K Race and Fun Run will be held on Saturday, March 3, at Valdosta State University, with registration beginning at 7 a.m. on the front lawn. The 5K starts at 8 a.m., and the Fun Run starts at 9 a.m. This year’s theme is “Moving for Music,” and all VSU students are invited to participate.

There will be recorded music playing through speakers at points along the 5K of a musical composition lasting around 28 minutes, with the challenge to “Finish Before the Music Ends!” For the Fun Run, the challenge will be to earn an award that states, “I Beat the Music!” with a musical selection that lasts around 15 minutes.

The VSU student entry price is $15 until race day when it will be $25 for everyone. Winners in each category will receive a music conductor’s baton engraved with “Moving for Music.” Pre-registrants for the 5K and Fun Run are guaranteed a T-shirt. If a VSU student group has at least eight participants, they will qualify as a group competing for a special award based on the number of group participants.

All of the money raised through the 5K and Fun Run benefits Valdosta Symphony Orchestra student scholarships. Runners can register online at http://www.runningintheusa.com/Race/View.aspx?RaceID=33571.
