VSU Theatre & Dance Presents 'Ramona Quimby'

VALDOSTA -- VSU Theatre & Dance will present 'Ramona Quimby' at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3 and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4 in Sawyer Theatre, located on the first floor of the Fine Arts Building. The 2011-2012 Theatre & Dance Season is made up of seven productions encompassing dance, drama, comedy and music.

Len Jenkin’s dramatization of Beverly Cleary’s Ramona Quimby is as insightful, endearing and enjoyable as Cleary’s wonderful series of stories about Ramona and her family. Based on several of the stories, the play seems very current and honest about the challenges that face the Quimbys and very upbeat, positive, and encouraging about their ability to pull together as a family to face those challenges.

“I am very happy to be directing this year’s Theatre for Young Audiences touring production of Ramona Quimby,” said Jimmy Bickerstaff, director and assistant professor of theatre. “We also hope audiences will find our production to be a lot of FUN.”
