Study Abroad Forum to Share Highlights of Learning Around the World

VALDOSTA --Valdosta State University will host a Study Abroad Forum at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, in the University Center Theater. The event is expected to last an hour.

“We will have 12 students who participated in various VSU-run study abroad programs, exchange programs, as well as those who volunteered abroad,” said Irina McClellan, assistant director of VSU’s Center for International Programs. “They will discuss how they decided to participate in education abroad, how they selected their programs, what they learned, and how they changed as a result of their experiences.”

Among those scheduled to speak during the Study Abroad Forum are students who participated in volunteer learning projects in Argentina; studied intensive Spanish language in Cadiz, Spain; spent a semester in Hungary and Argentina; and studied military history in St. Petersburg, Russia, political science in the Czech Republic, and business in Germany.

“Some of these students get so much out of their study abroad experiences that they are planning to go abroad next summer as well,” McClellan added.

The Study Abroad Forum is sponsored by VSU’s Center for International Programs, Council on Undergraduate Research, and the Department of Modern and Classical Languages.
