Stakich Awarded Trow Undergraduate Scholarship

VALDOSTA -- Jennifer Stakich was recently chosen as a recipient of the national Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society’s Jo Anne J. Trow Undergraduate Scholarship. She was one of ten applicants selected nationwide to receive the $3,000 scholarship.

The Jo Anne J. Trow Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded annually to Alpha Lambda Delta members who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Recipients are chosen by a national selection committee, which awards 10 scholarships of $3,000 and 25 scholarships of $1,000 to the top applicants from more than 250 chapters.

“As a part of an exhaustive application process, Jennifer was required to complete an application, compose an essay, submit 2 letters of recommendation, send official transcripts and receive a letter of support from me all during the busiest part of her spring semester,” said Richard Lee, advisor for VSU’s chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta. “When receiving news that she had been selected for the scholarship, I was also notified that she was one of the top five selected nationally.”

An English major at VSU, Stakich is involved in various activities on campus, which include serving as president of the Honors Student Association and vice president of Sigma Alpha Chi Honor Society. She is also a member of Golden Key International Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta and Kappa Theta Epsilon. Stakich is a student assistant in the honors house and serves as editor of the honors online publication, The Honora.

“Being named as one of the top ten Alpha Lambda Delta students to receive this scholarship is a great honor and privilege for me and VSU,” said Stakich. “I am also incredibly honored to be the first VSU recipient of this Scholarship.”
