VSU Air Force ROTC Hosts High School Drill Meet

VALDOSTA -- VSU’s Air Force ROTC will host the Blazer Invitational Junior ROTC Drill Meet from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, on North Campus.

Almost 200 junior ROTC cadets from nine high schools in Georgia and Florida will compete in regulation drill, inspections, color guard, and armed and unarmed exhibition drill. VSU’s cadet core has planned the entire event and will host, judge and present awards during the event.

“We’re always excited about the Blazer Invitational Junior ROTC Drill Meet. It’s a great way to promote VSU, Air Force ROTC and the greater Valdosta area,” Capt. Tim Bazzle, “It will bring in revenue to several local businesses such as hotels, restaurants, clothing stores, etc.”

The event should bring hundreds into the Valdosta area, including 100 to 200 high school parents, Bazzle added.

Saturday’s ROTC drill meet is free and open to the public with food and beverages on sale. For additional information, e-mail Capt. Bazzle at afrotcadmin@valdosta or call (229) 333-5954.
