New Campus Group Funds St. Jude

VALDOSTA -- Student-run philanthropic organization, Up ‘til Dawn, will host a series of events this semester to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital -- known for its pioneering research in childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

The organization invites the public to dine for a cause from 4-10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Texas Roadhouse, located at 1874 Club House Dr. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of the final bill to St. Jude for cancer research. Those interested in contributing must present the wait staff with an Up ‘til Dawn flyer, which are being passed our on campus.

Up ‘til Dawn’s premiere event this semester is a letter writing campaign to ask family and friends for donations to St. Jude. Students interested in writing letters should form teams of five; those without full teams will be paired with existing groups. The event -- which will take place from 5-10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, in the UC Magnolia Room -- will provide free food, entertainment, music, T-shirts and sunglasses for every team member.

Students interested in forming team may pick up a registration form at the Honors House on Thursdays between 8-9 p.m. or e-mail Kimberly Edwards at knedwards@valdosta.edu, who will provide you with the necessary forms. Registration forms are due to the Honors House before 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22.
