Carve Out Time to Walk
VALDOSTA -- Valdosta State University’s Walking Club invites
faculty, staff and students to carve out time to walk toward
wellness during the Fall Walking Contest, Oct. 1-31.
Participants who walk the required 65 miles are invited to a contest completion party from 2-2:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 1. Campus Wellness will raffle off various prizes, but participants need not be present to win.
Faculty, staff and students interested in participating in the contest must join the walking club, a free program designed to facilitate group or solo walking, and log miles walked between Oct. 1-31 on the program’s website.
People unable to walk due to a certified medical disability may set up alternative fitness methods to complete contest requirements. The wellness committee and authorized medical advisors will approve exercise options.
Registration details, official rules and group walking opportunities are also listed on the Walking Club Web site; but for more information, call Contest Coordinator Brady Flies at (229) 259-5105.
