VSU Hosts Fall Benefits and Wellness Fair

VALDOSTA - Valdosta State University will host the Fourth Annual Fall Benefits and Wellness Fair from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the University Center.

Campus community members and retirees can take advantage of the health screenings, free massages, informational booths, healthy refreshments and giveaways that have become trusted features of the wellness fair. They can also benefit from new options, such as hearing screenings, $20 flu shots for faculty/staff, $10 flu shots for students, and "Yoga at Your Desk" sessions offered by Catherine Schaeffer, associate professor of dance. YMCA will waive the $50 registration fee for those who sign up for the event, and Sams's Club, Weight Watchers and other groups will offer membership information.

Designed to provide faculty, staff and retires with details on health insurance, prescription drug coverage and retirement options, the event precedes employee open enrollment, which begins Oct. 26 and runs through Nov. 20. Representatives from Blue Cross and Blue Shield, AFLAC, retirement groups, US Bank, MetLife and others will answer questions and share information in preparation for the annual benefit drive.

Offering more than 40 vendors, the annual fair continues to grow and play an important part in campus wellness efforts. Call Becky Murphy at (229) 333-5105 or visit http://www.valdosta.edu/finadmin/wellness/ for more information.
