ZTA Leads Campus in Thinking Pink This October

VALDOSTA - Zeta Tau Alpha sorority will paint the campus pink on Thursday, Oct. 1, in honor of the 25th annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The service organization encourages campus community members to wear pink Oct 1 and stop by the informational booth on the pedestrian mall between Nevins and West halls. For a $1 donation, faculty, staff and students can sign the name of a loved one on a sheet sign, which will remain on display throughout the month. Proceeds will benefit ZTA's philanthropy efforts in support of breast cancer awareness and education.

“Wear pink, think pink and together we can make a difference," said ZTA philanthropy chair Holli Thompson. “We hope this can be an annual event that will continue to get people involved and teach them more about breast cancer and efforts to prevent it.”

ZTA members are also collecting pink Yoplait yogurt lids, each of which earns a $.10 donation from the company to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Collection boxes will be placed at various campus locations. ZTA has challenged the other Greek organizations at VSU to acquire the most lids before Dec. 1. These will support the local chapter as they compete against all other ZTA chapters in the state to garner the most support from Yoplait.
