Beta Alpha Psi Established at VSU
VALDOSTA - The Mu Zeta chapter of the Beta Alpha Psi honorary
organization inducted its first members on Friday, Feb. 6, in the
University Center Cypress Room.
BAP was organized by the Department of Accounting and Finance within the Harley Langdale Jr. College of Business Administration as a petitioning chapter in 2007. The local group of financial information students and professionals underwent a rigorous process to achieve full chapter approval.
The temporary status didn’t keep this group of students from progress. They held regular chapter meetings, attended national BAP meetings in Chicago and Anaheim and participate in community services events, such as local food drives and Habitat for Humanity. Their efforts during the 2007-08 chapter year earned them recognition as a “distinguished chapter.” Only one other petitioning chapter rated as high an honor.
Beta Alpha Psi is the national scholastic and professional accounting, finance and information systems organization. The Mu Zeta chapter is open to students who are at least a sophomore, have declared accounting or finance as a major, and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
The chapter meets weekly on Thursdays at 5 p.m. on the North Campus in Pound Hall room 318. Students interested in Beta Alpha Psi should contact Chapter President Will Curry at email@example.com or the faculty advisor, Dr. Raymond Elson, at (229) 219-1214 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
