VSU Offers Smoking Cessation Program

VALDOSTA - The American Cancer Society will host a free tobacco-cessation program, Freshstart, for Valdosta State University students, faculty and staff.

Students can attend on Monday, Sept. 22, from 6-7 p.m. in the Patterson Hall classroom and faculty and staff have their turn from noon until 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, in the UC Live Oak Conference Room.

Freshstart participants meet for one-hour in group session four consecutive weeks. The program will teach them to understand why they use tobacco, what to do during the first few days after quitting, and how to master the obstacles in order to stay off tobacco. Anyone can participate, even casual or non-smokers interested in learning tips and tactics for combating the problem.
