AFROTC, Red Cross Host Blood Drive

VALDOSTA - Valdosta State University’s Air Force ROTC and the American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30, in Barrow Hall on VSU’s North Campus.

The AFROTC cadets hope to make the event a successful venture for the detachment and the Red Cross, which is committed to supporting victims during catastrophic events like earthquakes, fires and floods. According to the local Red Cross blood center, the organization is in severe shortage and only able to supply hospitals at 50 percent. For every pint donated, three lives are saved.

The Red Cross Office, located at 2517 Bemiss Road, accepts blood donations from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. For more information, email Cadet Eric Hendricker at eihendricker@valdosta.edu or call the local blood center at (229) 241-1141.
