VSU's SAVE hosts Earth Day Celebration

VALDOSTA - Valdosta State University’s Students Against Violating the Environment (SAVE) is hosting an Earth Day celebration from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, April 22, in Drexel Park.

The event will feature live music from the Tin Foil Brothers, Jazz Ensemble and Sacred Harps, as well as appearances by VSU President Ronald Zaccari, Mayor John Fretti and Representative Amy Carter. Various local venders like the downtown favorite Hildegards will provide free refreshments. Oral presentations will be given about the impacts of coal dependence, the effects of mountain top removal of coal and other topics. Games and activities will offer chances to win prices and gift certificates from local businesses like Sublime Hair Salon, City Market and Good Karma.

Join SAVE and other supporters of the environment on Earth Day with food, fun and fascinating facts that will make this a celebration of the Earth to surpass all others. Contact Jackie Murray, jamurray@valdosta.edu, for more information.
