VSUs College of Nursing Celebrates Scholarship Day 2006

Students in Valdosta State University's College of Nursing will showcase their best work at Scholarship Day, Friday, April 21, 2006, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the University Center Magnolia Room.

Students will make presentations on a variety of health care issues in a workshop format that will take place in several rooms of the University Center throughout the first half of the event. Recruiters from regional health care agencies will also attend the event to discuss the health profession and employment opportunities and to award students for their academic excellence.

The keynote speaker for this event will be Linda Easterly, 2003 Georgia Nurse of the Year and president of the Georgia Nurses Association.

Approximately 190 students are currently enrolled in the College of Nursing at VSU, of which 32 will graduate in May from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, two students from the RN to BSN program, and one student from the Master of Science in Nursing program. These graduates will help address the nursing shortage in the South Georgia area.

VSU's College of Nursing program is approved by the Georgia State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. For more information on Scholarship Day or the nursing program, contact the College of Nursing at 229-333-7193.
