Valdosta State University Shows Staff Appreciation

Valdosta State University will honor over 700 of its staff and administrators at the 7th annual Staff Appreciation Day, Friday, October 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the university's north campus soccer field.

Sponsored by the Council on Staff Affairs (COSA), the day will include a cookout, entertainment, friendly competition, door prizes, and tables hosted by VSU departments, student organizations, and community businesses.

This year's agenda will add a special presentation of the colors at 12:15 p.m. by the university's Air Force ROTC and the singing of the National Anthem intended to honor the military and its role in defending our freedoms.

In 1998, former Valdosta Mayor James Rainwater proclaimed October 1 as Staff Appreciation Day at VSU. Since then, the university has tried to celebrate the occasion annually, on a Friday, as close to the proclaimed day as possible.
