Valdosta State University host Blazer Blood Drive

Valdosta State University hopes to raise over 140 units of "Blazer blood" in the third annual Rivalry Blood Drive against West Georgia, Wednesday, November 2, from Noon to 5 p.m., on the second floor of University Union, Camellia Room.

The pre-football game event seeks friendly competition between the rival universities for a good cause, said John Wright, assistant director of Student Life.

The American Red Cross has set a goal of 116 units for the five-hour blood drive; however, Wright is hoping to beat the 140 units that West Georgia collected last week.

The winning school will be announced during Saturday's afternoon football game at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium and will take home the traveling trophy, currently in VSU's possession.

"This is a great way to build school spirit and participate in a great cause at the same time," said Wright.

Though the Rivalry Blood Drive will last through 5 p.m., donations of blood will be collected through 6 p.m. For more information, contact Wright at 333-5674.
